Instructor Sheri Brooks is trained to assess the needs of each language learner, develop clear objectives and establish attainable goals for students of all backgrounds. Her well-researched strategies and compassionate teaching style motivates students to master the intricacies of the English language.
Sheri has always had a passion for the English Language. During her senior year in high school, she strived to overcome her own accent and recognized the needs of others to do the same. Sheri earned an MA in Teaching English from the University of London, taught abroad for 10 years and then spent over a decade teaching in the United States. This provided her an understanding of what it is like to struggle to learn a different national language and further motivated her to continue a career focused on accent reduction instruction.
Throughout her career, Sheri has served as director of language programs in Eastern Europe and the United States. She fascilitates professional development workshops through the University of Pennsylvania, Graduate School of Education, Penn Literacy Network for elementary and secondary teachers who work with English language learners. She also serves as adjunct faculty in Drexel University’s School of Education and contracts with numerous other educational institutions including Millersville University, Millersville International House and Global LT. She also co-founded and co-directs Kids and Cultures Camp to educate adolescents on the cultures of the world and promote awareness, understanding and responsibility
